I thought I could sync my mini and laptop using icloud only to find my laptop was too old after setting up my icloud account. Now, I find if I turn if off it says documents, contents, etc will be deleted from my mac mini. Is that true? How do I turn if off and keep my stuff. I don't have iphone or ipad and don't need icloud.

What is the exact wording of the message?
Why not just leave it on on the one Mac? That way you can access some items by going to icloud.com and signing in.

For some strange reason I turned off iCloud and nothing changed. All my documents etc. were still on my computer. Boy, am I comfused. Also, my macbook is too old to support iCloud.

That is what I thought. turning it off will just not allow yo to access info via icloud.com and sunc to other devices via icloud.
