Macbook Pro won't charge, after water spill

Long shot.... Last night I spilled water on my 15 Macbook pro mid 2009. After hours of drying, everything seemed to be fine and was working great.

Now that the battery has run down, I try charging my Macbook but it won't charge.

At first the lights come up(macbook lights on the side and blink slowly as it should and the charger light). But after 10-20 secs the Magsafe light dies and the lights on the side of the macbook blink rapidly as they do when there is no battery life left.

Any thoughts, ideas, help would be much appreciated. I am not under applecare anymore and I doubt they would fix it after a water spill.

Just in case anyone asks, the charger works fine on another macbook

You can try a smc reset:

Follow directions for your machine.

You may have caused damage to the charge circuit, you can bring it in to an Apple store for evalution, and get a free estimate for repair. Liquid spills rarely have good outcomes.

Best of luck

You have "killed" your Macbook😟.

If you let it dry out, it MAY start working again, but if it does, this will inevitably be temporary as corosion sets in and does futher (and almost certainly terminal) damage.

The only benefit of letting it dry is that IF it works again, you will be able to save what is on the HDD. Only important if you don't have a backup.......you DO have a backup don't you???

Irrelevant whether you have AppleCare or not - water damage isn't covered. And the cost of repairs is likely to exceed the value of your MBP. It is worth taking it in for a free evaluation of the cost of a repair.

Your best option may be to sell it for spares and invest in a new computer - which will be kept a long way from any drinks or other sources of liquid damage!
