find out if the software is up to date?

I have an Apple TV Box purchased in December 2013. How can I find out if the software is up to date? I want to use the "HBOGO App on my TV using Charter Cable and it asks if I have at least Software update 5.3 or better.

Can I also update this unit on my computer like my I Phone??
