define mid 2013 vs late 2013

So I am trying to understand how the periods 'mid' & 'late' are defined by Apple. I am looking at buying refurbished iMac but I would like a mid 2013 so I can still upgrade the memory later (a feature which is discontinued on the late 2013 model) but get as up to date as possible.

In the refurb store I assume "Originally released September 2013" is the late 2013 model so what should I be looking for if I want a mid-2013? Is that anything with the tag "Originally released October 2012" or is there another category inbetween?
