Disc burner or software not found... out of nowhere?

I burn CDs on occasion for an individual I meet with. In fact, I just burned one last week. The other day, I went to burn a CD and got the message "Disc burner or software not found..."

I've tried searching everywhere, but have found no solution that works. All of my software is up to date, I've tried quitting and restarting the application, rebooting my computer, and going to the Disk Utility to repair permissions - but none of these has worked.

Additionally, the blank CD I've inserted will not eject unless I restart my Macbook.

Any solutions would be greatly appreciated as utilizing my CD burner is needed for my line of work.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
