Trying to activate Apple TV for first time. I just have activating displayed with spinning wheel...contacting activation server at bottom. How long should this step normally take. System keeps defaulting to screensaver mode

I have gotten this before -- it should only be a second or two before it moves on to the next activation step.. What I ended up doing is setting my wifi router firewall to a lower (less secure) setting. I think that the activation tries to contact a time server (or something similar), and opening up the firewall allowed the communication to go through.
