Cannot get yahoo mail - "the connection to the server failed"

For the last 3 days my yahoo mail account hasn't been receiving new mail on my iPad - and won't let me send. However I am getting Facebook updates on my iPad, and can get yahoo mail updates on my Samsung android phone. Does anyone know what's happened? Sure it's something simple, but I am like an old nanna with technology and need help please?!!! Thanks.

Here is the resolution!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Have the customer go to Mail Contacts And Calendars choose Add Account and select Yahoo as normal.

2. Enter their account information First & Last Name, Email Address, Password & Description.

3. Have the customer select next the account will come back as not be able to connect to the server as before.

4. Have them retype their password and this time "Save" the account on both screens.

Move to the Desktop

1. Sign in to their yahoo account and click on the "Mail Icon" at the top right of the screen.

2. Have the customer then click on their name then go to "Profile".

3. Once the screen has changed then click on the gear at the top right and go to "Account Info".

4. Have the customer navigate to the sub title "Sign-In and Security" and then to "Manage your app passwords".

5. Name the app that requires a password. ex. iPhone Mail, iPod Mail, etc. then generate a password.

6. Take the generated password and sign in to the pop up window on the device that is asking for the password and the device will be able to then connect to the Yahoo server and the customer should start to see the device getting mail.

Hey Kirstybeans,

Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with mail on your iPad. The following article may help to resolve your issue:

iOS: Troubleshooting Mail

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3899

Try these basic troubleshooting steps first

1. Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage (try any webpage). If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you are unable to load a webpage, follow these troubleshooting steps.

- Try to use an alternate Internet connection if available:

1. Try a different Wi-Fi connection

2. If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.

3. If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*

2. Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.

3. Restart your iOS device.

4. Delete the affected email account from your device.

- Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

- Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.

- Add your account again.

* If you are only able to use your email account while connected to your home network, this may be a limitation put in place by your email service provider. For further support, please contact your email service provider directly.

Thanks,

Matt M.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

 Cheers, Tom 😉
