Q: Capturing audio only

Hello - I am trying to capture audio, no video, into Final Cut Express, but I'm having issues, because it says it's not finding video to capture. How do I capture just audio? Thank you!

You need timecode for normal capture.

However you could try the DV Converter Easy Setup that does not require timecode.

My last suggestion would be to introduce the audio via the Voice Over tool into an existing Project.

You did not say where the audio was sourced from.

If a camera you can capture the A/V and only edit audio into the Timeline.

FCE cannot capture audio only.   It can only capture video or video+audio.

If the audio you want is in a video, do a regular capture using FCE, then place the clip in a sequence (timeline), then select the clip in the timeline, unlink the audio  & video tracks from each other and then delete the video portion of the clip.  You will be left with just the audio portion of the clip.

There are other ways to record audio and import it into FCE.  What is the source of your audio?
