Crash - flashing folder and question mark

Ok, tried to print a large acrobat file. After I hit print, I walked away to allow the file to print. (660 page duplex). I came back to find the flashing folder with the question mark. Knowing what this entailed, I restarted the laptop booting it to the recovery drive. Concerned for the partition, I tried to repair the partition before moving to the data. After just a minute I got the "cant repair live file system"

I am running Mavericks.....

Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.1)
