I think you are confusing iPhone 3G with iPhone 3GS.

Iphone 3G can be updated to iOS 4.1.2 and no further. Iphone 3GS can be updated to iOS 6 and no further.

It looks like you have an iPHone 3G and not a 3GS.

You have an iPhone 3GS, which can indeed be upgraded to iOS 6.1.6.

Actually, it's 4.2.1 as stedman already stated.
