What's with the Mail application?

Again, I'm having problems with Mail.

Today it deleted my Sent messages, even though my deletion setting is "never".

And, I'm still getting numerous Incoming Messages...10,499 now!

...and...when I tried to re-establish my Yahoo mail "Sent" mailbox I got a message I'd never seen before...

"The Sent mailbox could not be created on the mail server. The local “Sent Messages (Yahoo!)” mailbox was created instead.Mail has changed your account’s Mailbox Behaviors preferences to use the local “Sent Messages (Yahoo!)” mailbox.

I'm actually considering goping back to the clunky Yahoo Mail, but I prefer to stay with Apple's Mail.

Any help with any of my three Mail issues would be helpful.

No. I've always thought it rather perverse but if you sit and cogitate (😕) it does make sense. As of now (if you have changed it as I suggested), when you look at the sentence, it says stop e-mail notifications. And it is set to do just that. Then, when you click again, you are showing you are set to 'receive e-mail notifications.'

That took even more thinking about to explain it. I think it's time for a siesta.

seventy one,

Just to confuse the issue even more...

When I choose the Receive option I get this message..."You are receiving email notifications for this discussion. To unsubscribe, click "Stop email notifications" below."

And when I select the Stop option I get..."You have stopped receiving email notifications for this discussion. To subscribe to new messages via email, click "Receive email notifications" below."

Did Apple change it, or add the messages?

My brain hurts...

My, you are making me work. 😀

Look at it this way. If you received an e-Mail notification of this post and went to the communities page to read it as part of the thread ... but scrolled up straight to the point where it says 'action', underneath it should say 'Stop e-mail notifications'.

Now, if you click on that you are telling your machine to stop e-mail notifications ... and from that point onwards you will get no more from this thread. But the instruction will then read 'receive e-mail' notifications'.

And unless you press that and change it back, you will not receive any more mail from this thread.

Think of it as if pressing it asks the machine to do you that service.

What may be preventing us from thinking it through is the fact that the message that pops up stays for too short a time for it to properly register in our brains.

Thanks for the star.
