Logic Pro X guide for Garage Band 08 dummy?

I've recently bought Logic Pro X after years of using Garage Band 08 and find myself completely baffled by it when opening my GB 08 projects for further work.

Can anyone recommend a dummies guide that explains things like mix bus(s), what 'sends' and Bus 1 and Bus 2 are, why on some tracks 'Output' is set to 'Stereo' and on some it's set to 'Bus 11', why the track numbers in the top window (the part that looks a bit like GB) don't match the channel numbers in the mixer at the bottom... everything, really.

I don't mind paying for a book if that's what's needed, I'd rather have all the information in one place than have to read dozens of tutorials, especially as everything I've found so far deals in specifics and assumes an underlying understanding of Logic Pro that I just don't have.

Have you tried the Logic manuals? There are a few just for Logic X:

Thanks. Looking at these I realise it's the same content as in the online help but somehow it seems more accessible and understandable in fixed-page format.

Logic Pro X is quite a different beast than GarageBand 08, especially if you are not familiar with the basics of a mixer with sends, busses and routing. My advice would be to start with the new (free download) GarageBand X version. It is basically Logic just without the complicated stuff. Or at least turn off all the advanced features in the Logic Preferences ➤ Advanced. As an eye candy, you get the wood side panels that makes you feel more like in GarageBand territory.

If you are looking for a good book, I can highly recommend the book that I wrote for Logic "Logic Pro X - How it Works". It is full of graphics and diagrams that you won't find anywhere else to help you understand the app. THe first 40 pages covers basic topics the you should know before even starting with the app at all. You can browse through book online on Amazon to get an idea about my concept.

However, I would recommend to check out the interactive multi-touch iBook version of the book, available on the iBookstore.
