How does control panel know where I work
How does the control panel and the maps software know where I work. I do not remember entering this information but it gives me an estimated time to arrive and has the right location set.

Since iOS 7.0, the iPhone tries to find out locations etc. you regularly visit and predict where you will be. So if you drive to work every weekday, it will notice that and give you a traffic estimate in the morning.
If you don't want this, you can disable this behaviour in Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Frequent Locations -> Off
There, you can also delete the history of remembered locations.
