iPhone text messaging hacked?

I just looked at a text from a friend (a Blackberry user) to my iPhone. I found my text box PRE-POPULATED with an insulting reply, waiting for me to click "send". What kind of hack is that?! Has anyone else seen this?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.4

No and no. I even checked the clipboard to be sure I hadn't inadvertently copied that phrase from somewhere--though it's nothing I'd ever seen. And I'm not making it up. I report it because it's almost impossible to believe; I can't imagine a credible scenario. My guess is that this now USED to be impossible. And I'm also guessing someone else will report an incident like this soon...

I wasn't looking for a "solution." I'm asking how someone can place text I didn't type as a text message ready for me to send. Is this so common an occurence that you have to tell me "just don't send it?"

No, but unless your iPhone has been jailbroken or someone had physical access to your device, that just doesn't happen.

Is this a one time occurance? If you delete the 'preset message' and compose a new one, does the odd message reappear? Has someone set a text shortcut on your device under Settings > General > Keyboard > Shortcuts?

This has happened just once. The message doesn't re-appear since I deleted it. There is no shortcut. Agreed, of course, this doesn't just happen; there has to be a reasonable explanation. The phone absolutely hasn't been jailbroken, and absolutely no one else has had access to it (unless I imagine a late-night burglary scenario more far-feched than this one). In any case, I'll have to let the matter go, unless lightning strikes again... Thanks.

That is like saying the clothes in your closet were mysteriously rearranged without you doing it or any possibility of anyone else getting access to your home, and then dismissing it as a fluke because it happened only once.

If what you say happened is true, the only explanation is that someone typed in that reply on the phone. There is no possibility of remote access control, or the phone self generating any response to messages. Even if you had previously created shortcuts to preset responses, someone would have to physically type in the shortcut in the reply box.

So, unless this event is the terminal process of the bovine digestive system, I certainly would not wait for it to happen again before figuring out who did it.

Obviously can't argue with anything you state. Nevertheless, everything I've said is a fact. No one's had access to my phone for months, and there's (truly) no one capable of such a prank here. And I don't waste people's time with BS. Likely should have waited to post the question until an unlikely second instance, though. The best explanation I can muster is something like movement of phone left on in my pocket, generating random text autocorrected to something intelligible. Like monkeys eventually typing Shakespeare... On balance, it seems more more believable than being hacked. Thanks and goodnight.

Like monkeys typing Shakespeare, it would take longer than your lifetime of continuous random typing for an intelligible message to be created, even with auto-correct (Shakespear would take longer than the life of the universe). In fact, I've never seen any typing generated by movements of a phone inside a pocket.

Much more likely (assuming no possible access by others to the phone) include: sleep texting (many reports of this), medication or intoxicant effects on memory, and neurologic disorder.
