Projector screen goes blank when connected to MacBookPro

Hello, when I am using PowerPoint or Keynote using my MacBook Pro, using different projectors, the screen goes blank, after using it fo a while. The screen takes a purple color sometimes. This happens regardless of the maker or model of the projector. The common denominator seems to be my Mac/ Thanks
