How do I remove the floating icon that is so annoying

I think you're referring to Assistive Touch. You can turn it off in Settings > General > Accessibility > AssistiveTouch

Android users go to settings select accessibility then off select speak floating icon gone

There are no floating icons.

It is possible to enable a virtual home button in Settings > General > Accessibility

Don't enable it in the first place, and you won't have that problem.
