Problem iOS7.1 with load on home screen ipad mini retina

I would take a look at Settings>Background App Refresh

The iPad may be loading content for Applications. I would suggest turning off Apps that you don't need updated information for until you open the app.

The icon you see indicates there is network activity. Do you by chance have any email accounts on the iPad? If so, check Settings>Mail Contacts & Calendars>Fetch New Data. Change the frequency of Fetch to your liking. I recommend using Manually, so when you open the Mail app, it checks for new mail, instead of the intervals listed when the app is not open.

Same here ! The "Activity" icon appears even there is no apps running at the background ! I restart my iPad to put away this problem, but somehow it happens again ! I'm not quite sure what causes it.

Yesterday I was using spotify and somehow the music suddenly stopped. I didn't really notice it but one hour later the battery drained from 60% to 10% with the activity loading icon on the top. I could even feel the heat on the back of my mini...

Not a backup

Not download apps

Not update apps

Not syncing with itunes

Not photo stream

Not background apps

Not any thing !!! So what's going on !?! Please help us :(

The only answer to this is that it is an iOS 7 bug, it cannot be fixed since maybe:

1. It's an OS bug

2. It may be a coding mistake

3. An unknown activity is being done to the iDevice

4. The app you're using is internet connected

5. iOS 7 is still on it's Growth phase (on my opinion)

This maybe fixed by Apple on iOS 8, that is said to be released on June 2

You arent alone I have the same problem and it is making me crazy. My ipad's battery is draining so fast because of it.

Apple what is your problem? Also There is an sound problem on my ipad. When ı turn it off and on back hoparlor does not work. And when ı do the same again it fixes.

i've had this problem before the 7.1.1 update... i don't know what causes it... it's very annoying because sometimes apps don't connect... for example when i open Kik it says "connecting..." even though i am connected... it's just this activity/reload/refresh/downloading icon is causing problems all over ios in general.

it's ******* me off. i know its not facebook since i deleted the app... and now i can't download it anymore because i can't seem to connect to app store because of this false icon... after 30 tries it'll probably work though... yay

I had the same problem. I tried this and I worked for me, if you press the off button and the home button together your iphone, iPad or iPod will go off. This just rest sets the phone. You will not lose any data on your device, just switch it back on after 15 seconds and every will still be the same as before and that icon will have gone.

#EndlessIPadLoading - Same problem here also, just bought an I-pad mini2 and updated it. Currently running 7.1.2 I noticed the problem 2 days ago and have been trying everything, but the home screen is always loading, and what's even stranger is that I get music sound clips of about 1 second from music that is NOT on my I-pad.😕 Typically when I start up an App it will happen.

What's up APPLE? I need my normal battery life and I don't want to shut off everything. Is this a Chinese hack in the chips or software?

Aside from this annoying bug everything else is going smoothly so far.

✅: Used the Home Button/Power Down method and it seems to be working so far. I have downloaded two Apps since with no problem. Battery usage seems normal but I'm still turing off things like Push, Fetch and background refresh just to conserve energy. Anyway, not sure what the deal was hopefully it's a good enough solution until it's patched.
