Siri and speak to text not hearing me on iPad 4
No recognition of voice in Siri or iMessage. Output of audio and music fine. Ugh! Help

Not hearing me talk. Cannot dictate to iMessage or talk to Siri. Push button, wavy line, then a list of things I can ask her to do.

I use Siri on iPhone just fine. It hears me and responds. I am wondering why my iPad is not detecting that I am speaking.
Make sure Siri is turned on in settings> general> Siri. If Siri still doesn't work go to settings> general> restrictions and make sure no restrictions have been enabled. If still no Siri try a reset, press and hold both the home and power buttons 10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait 15-20 seconds till your iPad starts on it's own. If still no Siri it's time for a trip to the Apple Store.
So you believe your microphone is not working?
Do you have a case on it?
Have you tried plugging your earphones from your iPhone in and trying the microphone on those?
Spent two hours in chat last night with apple. Had me do restore to iPad, hate that. Then check, still not working. Back to chat and the system down for two hours, please call back. So this am bought earbuds with mic. Works only with earbuds. No apple store on my island.
