Are you using a Windows computer to sync and update?

Crashes indicate damaged/corrupted software which happens sometimes if hardware is also damaged, but more often if the software is not syncing to the iPad properly.

You can try a hard reboot - hold power and home button till it cycles off then on again, then let go. I don't believe that will fix your software crashes.

I would recommend restoring to factory, updating over a reliable wifi connection and restore your data from cloud storage.

Any more problems after that, take it in for Apple service.

I am in the same boat. I've tried hard boots with no success. When I restore to factory settings I can use it again (my problem is that you can't enter anything - it literally takes 10 seconds for type to appear after you enter it and apps crash upon loading). As soon as I restore my data via iTunes the problem reappears. Am now setting it up as a new device and seeing if that works.

TOTAL PAIN!
