How do you record with multiple time intervals and export with time intervals?

Here is what I have needed to do for so long. I record messages that are 30mins to 1.5 hours long.

I really need to break it up into 3-5 min time intervals so my views can navigate better through the message better.

Does anyone know how to record in time intervals in GarageBand and then later export in time intervals?

Or is there another software type of audio recording software need?
