Mar 16, 2014 11:03 AM in response to Janettephamby King_Penguin,You should be able to get it from the App Store. If the app isn't already in your purchase history then try downloading the current version on your computer's iTunes so that the app is in it. Then on your iPad go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app and you should be able to download an older compatible version of it.

Mar 25, 2014 6:26 PM in response to Janettephamby Brutusfly,If you ever downloaded the older iBooks with your Apple ID, it will allow you to download it again. If however, you never downloaded the iBooks app previously or are using a new Apple ID that hasn't done so....frustration. In other words, a gen 1 iPad could run a wide veriety of apps for an old user ID, but is severely limited for all new users or anyone who hasn't downloaded lots of apps just months ago.
If you can sign out of the App Store on the iPad and sign in with a borrowed Apple ID of someone who trusts you, the old versions will become available and you can keep them when you sign back in with your new ID.

Mar 25, 2014 6:42 PM in response to Brutusflyby Brutusfly,Ahh, you are correct King_Penguin. That is the best work around. Although my relative doesn't have a computer, I can log into mine with their Apple ID and using your suggestion make iBooks and other updated apps prompt for older versions on their 1st gen iPad without having to us my Apple ID.
