htmlconfig button doesn't work when setting up wifi printing HP 1102w

I have a Macbook Pro. Mavericks OS.

Printer is a HP P1102w.

The printer works fine via the USB cable but I cannot set up the wireless connection. The blue light flashes and cannot find a network. IP address is just zeros.

I have been following various help guides and get to the point where it says click on HTMLConfig in the System Preferences. However, when I do this instead of getting another popup window and going to the next stage nothing happens and it takes me back to the previous step.

There is a very helpful setup video on YouTube, but like I said, when I click HTMLConfig I don't move on to the next window like the guy in the video does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c972ybZvZzo

I've seen another thread here with the same problem, but that guy just had to reset his printer and it starting working. I have reset my printer but still can't configure wifi.

I initially posted my problem on the HP help site, but they couldn't help and said it is an OS issue.

Why is this button not working?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Thank you for the reply.

I can see that it is going to take a long time to plough through this information (your link takes me to one page, which takes me to another, then another and so on).

There is a lot of reading here so I will have to wait until the weekend before I tackle it. Somehow I just know this is going to take many hours of my time!

If I am still having problems I will get back to you.

Many thanks
