Why can't i use my apps while i am talking on the phone?

When i am talking on the phone I try to use other apps and it says it is unavailable during cellular call? can someone help with this?

iPhone 5c, iOS 7.0.1

Who is your carrier? Not all carriers can support simultaneous phone and data.

CDMA networks like Verizon and Sprint do not support simultaneous voice and cellular data. That's the nature of the networks. You can only get simultaneous voice and cellular data on GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile.
