My son redeemed his itunes cards from xmast and birthdays and his account is updated with the right money amount but when he tries to purchase something its not letting him.

If you would like help from these forums then you will need to provide more info than 'not letting him'. If he's getting an error message when trying to purchase something then what does it say ?
