Trouble connecting iPhone 4s to cable

Hi everyone!

I have an iPhone 4S and I'm having trouble connecting my phone to the cable. It seems like the 30-pin dock connector is a bit overused and I have to make a big effort every time I want to connect the phone to charge or sync it. And each day it looks like it's getting worse. Should I send it to repare it or is there some way to fix it myself?
