Contacts duplicates
How do I remove duplicate contacts from iPad 3?

Check in the Contacts app to see if they are all in iCloud or through various other syncing services. If you see that they are on your iPad and on iCloud, then turn off Contacts in Settings > iCloud. If they are all on iCloud, then you will need to delete them one at a time.
