Can static fry my wall charger?

I think static from me is frying my iPhone wall adapters been threw 3 of the I pretty much watched the last one go static jumped from my hand to the charging port of my phone while the charger was connected and I just so happened to be looking at the batter and watched the lightning bolt or charge indicator go off tried another wall adapter works fine
