Coconut oil in my iPhone 5. How to fix it?
I think I got some coconut oil on my phone and then this black/gray discolouration started coming on my screen. What should I do to fix it? Dry it out? Change the screen?
iPhone 5, iOS 7.1
Good point, that's what my mind was thinking but didn't come out on paper... the consistency/compound makeup affects evaporation (if any)
So yes, we need to know the brand/make of the coconut oil to advise on what's next.
Its a "Niugini Organics" Raw virgin coconut oil. They are all ver much the same consistency.
I tried the rice idea and had no luck with it. Please let me know if anything else would work or if replacing the screen will work?
Thanks

Yeah, it's not going to evaporate or be pulled out by a desiccant like rice.
Your phone is pretty much ruined unless you take it apart(voids warranty).
Any ideas?
Well there's something you don't see every day...
I don't know the consistency of coconut oil, so I don't know if rice will work for it...
Otherwise, get the screen replaced.
The consistency is not the problem.
The problem is how or if it evaporates?
Does it leave a residue?
Is it corrosive because of sugars in the oil?
Why don't you take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Provider and have them advise you about your best course of action?
