Importing contacts from old Samsung?

I'm just about to receive my new iPhone after spending the last few years burdened with a Samsung Wave, and I had a question about contacts. Because I'm changing SIM sizes and phones, as far as I can tell there's no easy way to get my SIM contacts from the Samsung to the iPhone. But the Samsung can Bluetooth the contacts to my Mac as VCF cards, and then I can import them into the Contacts application. My question is, if I do that, when I sync my new iPhone, can it take the Mac's contacts and then store them on the SIM?

Your cellular provider should have no problem copying your contacts from your old SIM to a new one -- AT&T did that for me in the past for no charge. The iPhone can import contacts from a SIM but cannot store contacts to a SIM. More details on that at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4994

The other option if you can in fact get them into your Mac Contacts, you can then sync them into your iPhone Contacts using iCloud. iCloud setup instructions for both your Mac and your iPhone are at: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/

I have had problems with this as I am about to upgrade from Samsung Galaxy Ace to iPhone 4s. Eventually I emailed my phone contacts to myself from my Galaxy Ace (go into contacts on your device / then 'import - export' / then 'send name card via' / then 'select all' / then tap 'send' / then tap 'email' option / then email to yourself.

You will then receive an email with your samsung contacts all saved in the CVS format as an attachment, which will import straight into your contacts on your Mac, iPad or iPhone. Works in 5 minutes and seamlessly!

Note: you need to have your email account set up on your Samsung phone / Apple devices to achieve this! Hope this helps.
