I have upgraded to a 5S and am trying to restore from iCloud back up.
The problem is that I cannot select the latest back up as I need iOS7.1. I cannot go to settings to update it though? what do I do? thanks!

Make sure iPhone is connected to wall power and wi-fi.
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings to start all over and in the restore procedure choose iCloud backup.

Hi and thanks for your help. The phone is connected to power and wifi and I cannot get off the inital setting up screen as this is the first time I have switched the phone on. I have tried selecting an older back up to restore the new phone to, but I get a message saying that there is a problem with that and I need to use the latest back up, which was created today. I updated my old phone over the weekend to the latest iOS update and it appears that the new phone is not working off the same update. Hence I cannot set up the new phone.
If the backup is from a higher IOS version then you cannot restore from that backup with a lower IOS version iPhone.
Therein lies my problem - can you advise how I set the new phone up then at all?
Many thanks
I too, had the same problem! My solution was to set iphone5 up as a new phone, update the software and then restore. When you start the process again, you can then restore from your latest backup!
I hope that all makes sense! Good luck!
Great advice and working fine now! Thank you so much !
