Full Recovery after Disk Failure

Hi and tnxs for reading.

I have a question about TM Backups.

In case my HD definitively fail and I install a formatted new one, by powering up my macbook pro in recovery mode with CMD+R, do I have the option to reinstall all my TM data including Mavericks (if I have a WiFi internet connection for the download) or do I have first to install Mavericks and then restoring the TM Backup?

Many tnxs,

cheers.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)
