Slow read/write speeds and constant beach balls. Failing HD or could it be something else?
I have mid 2012 13" Macbook Pro. I started getting constant beach balls about a week ago. I've ran disk verify and it came back OK. I ran disk repair and permission repair, neither fixed the problem. I checked the disk speed and I'm getting within the range of 20 or 30 mb/s for the r/w speeds. I did a one pass over the entire HD with zeroes and reinstalled OSX, still have the problem. So before I order a new drive that I really don't have the money for, could this problem possibly be caused by anything else? Such as a failure of the SATA cable? How would I test something like this?
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
