new imac

First of all, let me say that I'm not trying to bring up anything that is against the rules or that would get me in trouble, so let me know if I am..

I've heard a lot of rumors that the imac is going to be revamped shortly. Obviously the new core2duo processor and I've seen pictures of a new look as well. I'm really getting the itch to get a new imac and am just wondering if anyone can back up my information or maybe have some solid info as to whether this is true, and when it will happen??

Thanks

Hello Lance:

It is against the terms of use for these forums to speculate about future Apple announcements/plans. In any event, Apple is very "close hold" about product plans and I seriously doubt anyone here would be able to give more than a guess.

I have never held back from a purchase myself to wait for the "latest and greatest." As you know, the technology business is a constantly moving target. I have a G4 and a first generation G5 and am very happy with both. When I am ready to replace one, I will do that with whatever Apple product is available at the time.

Best of success.

As Barry said, the folks who might actually know would be bound by an NDA while those who are just guessing are precluded from doing so in these forums. His advice on just buying what meets your needs when you can do so is pretty good also. However ....

Every December folks go out and do just that, buy a system that they want and/or need and which they're initially happy with. Then comes Macworld Expo in early January and the (not guaranteed!) smashing new release of this or that .... and these forums fill with anguished screams, folks accusing Apple of fraud and theft and misrepresentation or worse, demanding that they be allowed to trade their A in on a B, threatening class action suits, and yadda yadda yadda. The same thing happens each year.

It's called Buyer's Remorse. If you think you're susceptible to it, defer any purchasing decision until sometime around 9JAN07.
