remote for apple tv won't work

Your Apple TV may have become paired with another remote. Hold the remote close to and pointed at the Apple TV, hold down the menu and Rewind buttons together for 6 seconds or until you see a broken chain icon on screen.

I've already tried your suggestion but all I get is the screen where I need to configure the resolution. It is the screen where the Apple logo appears and I must click OK if I see it. However, since my remote still does not respond, I can not click OK. I can not go past this screen. The device is blinking constantly and it does make the normal sound you hear whenever you click. However, it does not do anything!! Heeeeelp!!
