5th gen touch - screen coming away from housing on left side.
I few days ago I noticed that the home button on my Touch was slightly loose, and I was getting 'rainbow ripples' across the the screen when I tapped (there's also a feint bluish mark down the centre of the screen). It's also quite unresponsive, but that COULD be 7.1, I don't know.
I picked it up just now, and noticed the screen has come away from the housing on the left side, and is bowing upwards, to give you some idea of how much, I can slide my thumbnail into the gap.
As Sod's Law would have it, it's out of warranty (I should have purchased AC at the time, but couldn't stretch to it and, when I found I could Apple had moved the goalposts to within 30 days of purchase, NOT the 1st year).
It has NEVER been dropped (as anyone can see) the housing is dent-free, and it lives in a case in my bedside table drawer when not in use.
What can I do about it - anything…? It's like the glue - or whatever holds the screen in place - has dried out (it's not been exposed to excessive heat/cold, either - this is the UK, FFS!). I'm stuck in bed, so I can't do anything about it, but is there anything my father could do…? Anywhere it could be taken…? It's only 17 months old (bought 22/10/2012)!
I'm assuming the screen could eventually fall off if it's not repaired.
Any help…? I can't really afford to replace it, and I've apps I use regularly that are iOS 7-only, so they'd not work on my old 4th gen. I certainly can't afford to replace it!
If anyone wanted an example of style over substance (or, rather, build-quality), this is a prime one!
Any help, folks…?
Thanks
