Hi All,
I have just setup Dropbox with 200Gb to backup and store my 120GB iPhoto Library. It is large due to lots of Videos.
I want to use the iPhoto library on two computers (laptops) and always have iPhoto in sync between the two computers. Will this work? Has anyone tried this?
PS. I have no interest in using Picasa. I've been there before and prefer iPhoto and will not change.

Don't risk this without a backup of your iPhoto library. iPhoto is not designed as a network database. I have seen quite a few reports of iPhoto libraries being corrupted by the Dropbox sync.

No. I've tried it with a test library and ended up with a damaged library. The dropbox servers can't handle the iPhoto Library's file and permissions structure so there's a very, high probability of ending up with a damaged library.

several people have tested it and it does not work - in face just having yhour iPhoto library on DropBox may corrupt the local copy with syncing between multiple computers
The iPhoto library must always be on a volume formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) - Drop box does not do this amopung other issues

Thanks all. I think I will just use time machine for my backups and keep iPhoto on my main laptop and if I need it on the other ill just use it remotely (shared folder) . Dropbox will just be for other files.

The may shared folder may not work either; libraries in shared folders were
supported in earlier versions, but for the current version the safest way is to use a small portable drive and to plug it into any computer you want: That is what Apple recommends, see this link:
If you have the two laptops linked together this applilcation might do what you want: SyncPhotos. However, it will only sync original versions. It won't sync any modified versions or metadata, i.e. keywords, titles, descriptions, etc.
I've not used it so can't confirm it's effectivenes.
You can also use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager to copy new events in Library A to Library B and new events in B to A. This will also include edited versions and all metadata.
