iBooks shows 'waiting' on my 5s and I can't do anything with it. Any ideas?

My iphone 5s has been showing 'waiting' under iBooks for a few days now. I have tried soft reset and connecting to my MBP. I can't read any of my books, I am not even able to open the app as it is greyed out.
