ATI Radeon 9600 and PowerMac G4 QuickSilver - problem

Hi guys!

Sorry for the big amount of posts but I have yet another problem.

Yesterday I replaced the stock Nvidia GeForce2 MX in my QuickSilver with an OEM ATI Radeon 9600 128MB from my G5. I taped the pins 3 and 11 and the card worked immediately.

After using the Mac a bit, I noticed that the graphic performances are pretty much exactly the same as before. I installed Leopard and I got the translucent menubar, but the graphic performances are terrible (seems exactly as bad as the GeForce).

Does anyone have the same issue? Here is a screenshot from System Profiler in both Tiger and Leopard:

And here are some Xbench scores (the same card in the G5 scored about 121 points):

Hi, I think the biggest problem is the 7450 733 Mhz QS was a real dog, they cut the L2/L3 Cache back to 256K from previous CPUs that had 1 MB cache, as I recall in most comparisons the previous DA 7410 533MHz outclassed it.

They didn't go back to 1 MB L2/L3 caches until the QS2002s.

And the slowest G5 had an 800 Mhz Bus speed compared to the QS's 133 Mhz bus.

What was the Xbench score for the MX2?

The DP800 shoild help, especiall the 1 MB L3 per CPU, but the Bus speed is still a bottleneck.

Overall, the Geekbench scores almost doubled, from 372 on the 733, to 670 on the DP800, which was mostly CPU not Graphics improvement, but you should see some.

I only have Xbench results for my QS2001 with upgraded CPUs to 1.47 DP/7455s & an MX2 it seems...
