When in doubt, 1st place to start is the files and ports tab. It tells you that it is part of Messages application. It provides a background process for persistent messaging to notification center and other items, especially Facetime. If you don't use any of that, go ahead and kill it but it will come back if you've enabled any messaging protocols. Nothing to worry about.
Awesome, have a good day!
Does anyone else have any information about this process they could share?
I noticed the process also. Search turned up nothing regarding its function, usefullness, safety or associated apps as well. Can anyone provide a little insight into this process?
I did that intiially, if you take the time to read through the links, none of them actually say what the process does or relates to. Thanks for your smartass answer. Next?
thank you
Since you indicated that you did nothing, I pointed you where you should start your search. If none of those 10+ pages provided you with any info, next time post that juicy tidbit. As for childish disparagement, good luck with your quest.
Hi,
I have the same question, also, the link to the Google Search does not help at all. There was some note somewhere in one of the links that indicated that it had to do with iOS7, but I could not really confirm that.
BUT, I have checked with my Mavericks Server, that is running perfectly without crashes and no unnecessary software running, and the IMDPersistenceAgent is running there as well, so if you are experiencing problems with you Mac, it most likely is not this process. You will have too look elsewhere I am afraid.
