IMDPersistenceAgent Process, what is it?

Anyone know what this process does? IMDPersistenceAgent

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

When in doubt, 1st place to start is the files and ports tab. It tells you that it is part of Messages application. It provides a background process for persistent messaging to notification center and other items, especially Facetime. If you don't use any of that, go ahead and kill it but it will come back if you've enabled any messaging protocols. Nothing to worry about.

I have the same question, also, the link to the Google Search does not help at all. There was some note somewhere in one of the links that indicated that it had to do with iOS7, but I could not really confirm that.


BUT, I have checked with my Mavericks Server, that is running perfectly without crashes and no unnecessary software running, and the IMDPersistenceAgent is running there as well, so if you are experiencing problems with you Mac, it most likely is not this process. You will have too look elsewhere I am afraid.
