Hi Communities. I want to set up a camera that is permanently fixed to a window frame (that looks out across the London skyline). Then I want to be able to take photos remotely from the keyboard. My first thought is a webcam but will it take a decent photo if it's snapping something far away? Any recommendations, suggestions or alternatives? Thought I'd ask the Mac community first...

A compatible webcam and your Mac's OS X software will work, but if you have a critical eye and a need for good photographs, you will do much better with a tethered DSLR and software compatible with the camera you choose.
If you don't already have your own favorite brands, two of the DSLR brands I would recommend for your tethered consideration are Canon and Nikon.
Although several camera brands offer models that can be tethered and provide far better images than any webcam, cameras from either Canon or Nikon that offer the tether feature can certainly give professional image quality.
