How to update software without wifi?

This is really stupid. I can do all the complicated stuff like use a 4K camera, but I can't do something as simple as deciding to use my cell data to update my apps? You guys really dropped the ball.. I shouldn't be required to use wifi simply because I may not have it!! Cmon Apple, pull it together!

Who are you to decide how I use my god **** data? I have 20GB cell data and am prevented from a 60MB download. Which btw is to fix the hotspot problems I have in the first place. This ***** Apple. I’m working remotely and have no wifi other than phone. Total BS catch 22.

Righto mate, sorry. It was aimed at Apple for enforcing a poor policy. Had customers breathing down my neck and needed a place to vent during a break, appreciate the forum inputs. Here's to hoping Apple engineers read some of these messages with unresolved issues.

FYI, the update from IOS 11.2.0 to 11.2.1 fixed my problem. My tethered phone now provides a proper internet connection.

You cannot upgrade to iOS 7 via a cell connection. The upgrade is far too large. If you can't use Wi-Fi, you'll need to upgrade via iTunes on your computer. See the section titled "Update your device using iTunes" in this support article:
