mail resizing attachments

I am having issues sending psd file attachments in Mac Mail. I have a Mac Book Pro. OSX 10.6.8. The file resolution keeps reducing when the recipient gets the file. I tried a few times - without success. I am a designer, liasing with a devloper - so its a real nightmare.

It also seems to flatten the layers into a single layer.

I have tested the same file using hotmail and mailbigfile.com - and it sends ok using those email hosts.

Would appreciate if someone can help provide a fix for this glitch.

You didn't mention it, but you've already tried Mail, Edit, Attachments, Send Windows-friendly attachments, both Checked and Unchecked?

Hi - yes just tried that, unchecking windows friendly - no change - same problem.

It reduced the image pixel sixe, and also flattens the layers.

One more thought, is the Image Size on the far right of the Mail edit window set to 'Actual Size'?

There is also the possibility that the recipient's e-mail program is causing this. Send yourself an e-mail with a psd attachment and see if the attachment arrives as sent.

Yup tried all of these. Actual size and sending from another email to my inbox - and it come in fine - no probs. Nothing to do with recipients email.

It definitely something to do with mac mail and sending psd attachments out.

I am suddenly having a similar problem with Mail V5.3 (1283) in Lion 10.7.5

It reduces every photo attached to a tiny size. From 1.2 MB to 22KB, and from 4.3 MB to 49KB. This only happens using Mail on the desktop. One curious thing, when I first attach the file it appears in the message full size then disappears and reappears tiny.
