My iphone 3gs is not working after updated to 6.1.6

I upgraded my iphone and we had the time change. Ever since then, the message at the top left of my screen says No Service, Searching..., OR Bars with the word My Network. I can only send txts and make calls about 30% of the time when the bars and My Network are showing. I've done a master reset and put in a new SIM card.

The other weird thing is my time flips between the correct time and another time. Right now it's 4:12pm, but my phone showes 11:16am. You would think the minutes would at least be the same even if the hour were off.

My phone carrier is at a loss. Any help would be appreciated.

Try a reset. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.

Then check Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically = "On". If it was "Off", then set it "On" and reset again.

I've done all of this before and I've done the master reset also. Any other thoughts?

What is a master reset? I've never heard of that before.

Maybe master reset is the wrong term? It's where you reset the phone and you have to set it up again like when you first bought it. You can restore your settings through your icloud backup.

So you are describing a restore? Did you do this through iTunes or iCloud? If you restored from a backup and you are still experiencing a problem, the last user step is to restore as new. If after that the phone still does not perform correctly, then you need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have the hardware checked.
