Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Error message:

Cannot Get Mail

The user name or password for  "apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com" Is incorrect

I tried the various suggestions: delete account and setup new one, shutdown iPad, turn off the primary server (Yahoo! STMP Server") and use  alternate server but it does not work at all.

one of the suggestions found at discussion platform suggested to change the outgoing mail server to  apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com

it does not work initially. But after several attempts, it decided to work!

SSpent hours last week trying to FIX MY bellsouth.net email.

a Tech put me onto searching Google about operating system 7.1.1,    THIS IS DEFINITELY THE PROBLEM.  ALSO PROBLEM WITH GOOGLE.

UOU WILL RECEIVE, HOWEVER CANNOT SEND.

YOU WILL GET A DIALOG BOX SAYING YOUR PASSWORD IS INCORRECT. BOTH BELLSOUTH AND GOOGLE.

TO SOLVE THE BELLSOUTH ISSUE

DOWNLOAD THE YAHOO MAIL APP.  IT IS FREE.

FOR GOOGLE I HAVE NOT FOUND A SOLUTION.
