i photo 7

I´ve connected 2 mac books pro: one old and one from 2 years ago..... I´ve transfer the photo library from my old mac (that uses i photo 7) to my new mac that uses i photo 9... Everything ok.... but now when I go back to my old mac and try to open i photo 7, it tells me that I´ve done changes with a newer version of the i photo, so go and use i photo 9.... How can I get my i photo 7 back for my old mac? please

You have not lost iPhoto 7 - what you have done is upgrade yoru iPhoto 7 library to iPhoto '09 and when you did that you were told that upgrading woul dmean that your library could no longer be used by earlier versios of iPhoto - which is exactly what you are seeing

Your choices are to install iPhoto '09 on your older system (or iPhoto'11 on both) from a purchased iLife DVD, restore you backup of the iPhoto 7 library from before you upgraded it a=or us iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to downgrade yoou library to iPhoto 7

Thanks for your help... but I don´t have a version of I life because I bougt my old mac in 1997 when i photo was sold separately... and the mac that I bought 2 years ago didn´t have that i life either... but it had i photo somehow inside the instalers of the operating sistem (leopard X)... now when I go to the link that you gave me it says that my operating system is too old... seems I´m trouble... in that link there is a thing to organize contents but i photo is not opening... this is is crazy ... shall I install the leopard operating system in my old computer in order to get my photos back...? or I´m ****** up (sorry about the language)... I still hve back ups of my old photos... but this is ridiculous just because I connect my mac with an older mac it doesn´t have to mean that the older mack is in trouble, it is stupid... is been 10 years since I use windows... but this kind of ******** from mac... I don´t know... I´m totally sure I wouldn have these problems with windows... to helll if anybody can help me... It would be appreciated

Sorry - but your problem is very simple and you were warned about the library upgrade and you accepted it

We can help but if you continue to flail and editorialize instead of follow a logical path it will not be possible

Nothing involves installing a different OS

You have not lost iPhoto 7 - what you have done is upgrade your iPhoto 7 library to iPhoto '09 and when you did that you were told that upgrading would mean that your library could no longer be used by earlier versios of iPhoto - which is exactly what you are seeing

In other words you made this choice - but it can be easily solved

Your choices are

1 - to install iPhoto '09 on your older system (or iPhoto'11 on both) from a purchased iLife DVD,

2 - restore you backup of the iPhoto 7 library from before you upgraded it

or

3 - use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to downgrade your library to iPhoto 7

Again no mention of changing OS any where in my suggestions

and if you would spend your time reading the links and following the suggestions rather than posting profane and obscene comments you would have seen the IPLM link for older versions - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm_downloads -- since you never bothered to even mention the version of the Mac OS that you have how would expect anyone to know what you have - we are not mind readers

Remember you created the problem and you are working with volunteer users who really do not care a bit about Windows because we are Mac users - if you like Windows better then go use it - editorializing about it here does nothing to help you or help us understand your problem

You never import one iPhoto library into another iPhoto library -

Your choices are

1 - to install iPhoto '09 on your older system (or iPhoto'11 on both) from a purchased iLife DVD,

2 - restore you backup of the iPhoto 7 library from before you upgraded it

or

3 - use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to downgrade your library to iPhoto 7

No changing of OS - no importing - you have thave a library you can open - to do that you have to have an iPhoto library that is compatible with the version of iPhoto you have - the three choices presented three time now are hyou only choices

Hello I had to leave the city earlier, that´s why I couldn´t answer you before... regarding your last post my only option is to download http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ but it doesn´t work... I guess I did my back up of my old i photo gallery too late when it had been already touched by i photo 9... It is sad that these things happens.... do you know of any other software that opewns i photo...? maybe picassa I don´t know? thank you

The error says you have a liberary that was creaded by iPhoto '11 version 9.2.1 and that you are trying to open it with an older version of iPhoto (iPhoto '08 version 7.0.1) - you can not open newer liberaries with older versions of iPhoto

Since you give no context as to how this occured or what you have I have no idea

What version of iPhoto do you have on the computer? Of the OS? what has recently changed? How do you think the library got updated to iPhoto '!!?

MAn I read all your messages and try to follow your advice, always... I was just trying to import 1 picture from my old mac book pro model 2007 to my new mac book pro model 2011 ....I've connected the two macs together via fire wire and using the old mac as an slave disk...But I've oppened the library of the old mac book in the new mac book... And the rest is history.... I downgradesd the i photo version in my old mac.. But the photo library seems to like being model 2011 and there is no way can open them in i photo 7.... Do you know if all the photos that go to the photo library have some kind of file archive... Just the photo? Maybe in documents.. Just the photo.......? Thank you

And you were warned that your library needed to be upgraded and could not be used by previous versions and you agreed

there is no way can open them in i photo 7.

YOu can - you need to

1 - to install iPhoto '09 on your older system (or iPhoto'11 on both) from a purchased iLife DVD,

2 - restore you backup of the iPhoto 7 library from before you upgraded it

or

3 - use iPhoto Library Manager -http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to downgrade your library to iPhoto 7

Do you know if all the photos that go to the photo library have some kind of file archive... Just the photo?

Yes they are in the original folder (masters folder in later versions) - you can right click on the iPhoto library and show package contents - copy the originals foldder and put the copy on your desktop - your original photos are there

Do NOT make any changes to the structure of content of the iPhtoo library or you will make things worse
