Can I move my library from my old computer to my new one with iTunes Match?

I am trying to move my library from my old Windows XP computer to my new Window 8. I have tried several different times to move my library via my ipod and the Home Sharing. I am only getting the music I purchased from the Home Sharing. And the transfer from the iPod is not allowing me to find my downloaded music from anywhere (CDs or I though if I subscribed to the iTunes Match I might be able to put everything in the cloud and pull it down to my new computer that way! Will that work! Or should I just cry now!
