NEVER had issues previously. 6.1 includes an Airplay upgrade for 3rd gen devices only. Perhaps installation is not possible on gen 2 as bundled. Any other gen 2 users experiencing this issue? more

You can check istumbler or netstumbler to get a report of your network.
Or you may want to try via ethernet to update, or connect to iTunes using micro usb.

I do not even get a message telling me the update failed. Everything seems to be going OK and then about 60% of the way into Step 2 of 2 the Apple TV reboots.
On checking the software version the update did not happen. I have tried about 20 times now over the past 4 weeks.

It will look like it is installing and then fails repeatedly. Even after a complete reset it continues to fail. Current installed version is 6.0.2.

Mar 26, 2014 12:03 PM in response to vazandrewby dkb938,Got it working. You can't have BOTH the power cord plugged into Apple TV AND the mini-usb connected to a Windows computer using iTunes!. Once I unplugged the power cord the Apple TV was recognized in iTunes. Go figure...
