Issues with MCP Wireless reconnecting automatically upon awakening

This past week I have had a sudden issue with the wireless on my mid-2009 MBP reconnecting automatically upon awakening. The airport icon in the menu will be great when waking or opening the clamshell. I then need to click the menu icon. It shows my network with full signal and once clicking my network name it connects automatically. I have not been able to correct this behaviour. Any ideas? Is there a file that retains my preference for this that may be corrupt?
