Connect to itunes, data?

I've gotten myself into a bit of a messy situation... I have a bit of short term memory loss and forgot my password, just to remember it later. I tried too many times to get through the lock and now it wants me to connect to itunes. What exactly do I do? I've synced before, so will I be able to save my data? To be more specific, I've been keeping a bit of a journal in my notes and planned to write the entries down on paper later, but will this save the notes as well? and what about my photos?
