Hey Guys, so I just bought two Sandisk Extreme II SSD's. For some reason Neither my computer or Disk Utility can recognize the SSD's. Does anybody know if I need to do something specific to get these running.I was thinking maybe an enclosure, but am not sure.
I have a mac pro 2009 quad core 4,1.

how are you connecting them to your machine? i use the free sata connector in the 2nd optical bay.

I connected it into the 2nd hardrive bay. Sorry, I just bought this Mac Pro, Could you explain how you used the Sata connector via Optical drive?
so the 2nd slideout bay, how physically is the SSD in there? are you using like a OWC sled or the newertech adapter?
for the 2nd optical bay, see below. it is totally fine to leave it just 'hanging' there since the drive is so light and i'm presuming that you're not moving it around a lot.
I am using a Newertech adapter, and it doesnt seem to be reading it. Im going to give the Optical drive a shot now. Ill update when done. Thanks!
since you have 2 SSDs, it is very strange that both did not work in the adapter. so either the adapter is wonky or the bay itself is no good. try another drive in the 2nd bay, if it reads fine signs point to a bad adapter. unless, you didn't push the sled/adapter combo in all the way?
do this, put 1 ssd in the optical bay, put another HD in bay 2 and put the 2nd ssd in bay 1 on the adapter.
The Optical Drive worked, Im assuming it just needed the Sata connector, because when I connected the drived into my external hardrive dock, it didnt read either, Thanks again for helping with that, really appreciate it. Ill give the other bay a try in a bit and update later, Thanks again!
